What are ICO Airdrops?
An ICO (aka Initial Coin Offering) is the most common type of fundraising in the crypto community. This is where new projects sell their underlying crypto assets (cryptocurrency, crypto commodities or crypto tokens) in exchange for bitcoin, ether or another crypto currency. One method of marketing their ICO is to offer ICO airdrops, where free tokens are given away. It’s simple to participate in these and it’s a great way to make some money each month. Of course, the value of each airdrop is different. Some airdrops have a value of hundreds of dollars each, while others may only be worth $1. However, some of these new startups will become highly successful and the value of these airdrop tokens today may be worth significantly more in the future. By participating every day in a few airdrops which only takes a few minutes, you can make easily $100+ a month
Is participating in ICO Airdrops Safe?
Yes, participating in ICO airdrops is perfectly safe but you should always be aware of scammers. Just like any other industry where money is involved, the crypto community is also filled with them so stay safe. Follow these steps below to avoid scams.
Guide to Participating in ICO Airdrops (Safely!)
1. Create a new Ethereum Wallet on https://myetherwallet.com. If you don’t know how to do that, watch this 2 minute video here. Once you create a wallet, you will have a new wallet address. Remember to save your private keys!
2. Save the ETH address you just created somewhere easily accessible, so that you can simply copy and paste your address when you want to participate in ICO airdrops.
3. Create a new e-mail to use when you participate in airdrops. This way your regular email address won’t get bogged down with more email spam. Plus you will have one address where you will keep all the info from the ICO airdrops you participated in. I recommend creating a gmail address here but use whatever you want.
4. Create a password to use on airdrops that is different from the normal password you use on your exchanges just to add another level of safety. One password to use on all these airdrops is just fine.
5. Some airdrops require you to join a Telegram group. If you don’t want to mix this with your normal Telegram, create a new one. The same can be said for Twitter.
6. Never share your private keys with any airdrop (or anyone!). If they are asking for a private key, do not participate!
